Hi,
I come from a unix background and almost didn't install the GUI
when I installed Linux. However there actually are lots of nice
GUI programs. I use WordPerfect for word processing and
Compupic for some image editing work. I use a parellel port
scanner so I still have to do that with windows. There are also
some spread sheet programs out there. There are some great
games my kids beg to play on the Linux computer and spend
more time on it then the Win98 box. Linuxconf can be used
for alot of the sysadmin stuff. It is mostly a matter of preference
and habit. I finally got used to windows filemanager about a year
ago, until then I had put bat files on that converted unix commands
to dos commands so I could copy and delete files without typing
everything twice! http://freshmeat.net/ is a great place to look
for programs you might be interested in.
