Hi Matt,
Give up on that onboard tlan chip! It will never work under Linux.
I too have a Compaq DeskPro, and it also has an onboard Thunderlan
ethernet chip. I tried in vain to get the tlan driver running and
after battling IRQ and unreachable I/O address problems, I eventually gave
up, installed an SMC Ultra card, and that works just fine. ISA ethernet
cards can be found for $10-$20 bucks. Pick up an SMC Ultra, or a 3COM
Etherlink III or a Netgear FA310TX adapter card; all work well
under Linux. The respective drivers are smc-ultra, 3c59x, and
tulip.
