Problems setting up Cyrus-imapd

Has anyone got cyrus imapd installed successfully?

I've been trying to install from the rpms in powertools. I asked for
help the other day because the rpm wouldn't install. I've now fixed that.

Now I can't log in. All I'm getting when I run cyradm is:

application-specific initialization failed: authentication failed

I suspect cyrus-sasl is configured badly but the docs are no help at all.
