Sorry if this is off-topic.

I'm having difficulties establishing a ppp connection into our CommServer at
work. (It's a Perle 833.) It's configured for CHAP. The chat-script is
completing. Something w/i the PPP handshaking is failing.

Below is a segment from /var/log/messages:

May 29 16:44:49 tigger chat[1560]: CONNECT
May 29 16:44:49 tigger chat[1560]: -- got it
May 29 16:44:49 tigger chat[1560]: send (^M)
May 29 16:44:49 tigger pppd[1558]: Serial connection established.
May 29 16:44:49 tigger pppd[1558]: Using interface ppp0
May 29 16:44:49 tigger pppd[1558]: Connect: ppp0 <--> /dev/modem
May 29 16:44:54 tigger pppd[1558]: Unsupported protocol (0x802b) received
May 29 16:44:54 tigger pppd[1558]: Unsupported protocol (0x803f) received
May 29 16:44:54 tigger pppd[1558]: Unsupported protocol (0x8031) received
May 29 16:44:54 tigger pppd[1558]: Could not determine remote IP address
May 29 16:44:55 tigger pppd[1558]: Connection terminated.
May 29 16:44:55 tigger pppd[1558]: Connect time 0.1 minutes.
May 29 16:44:55 tigger pppd[1558]: Sent 324 bytes, received 335 bytes.
May 29 16:44:56 tigger pppd[1558]: Exit.

I'm not sure where the process is failing and how to go about further diagnosing
it. I do have full configuration access to both sides. Unfortunately, the
server side just sort of "works" for windows clients and no-one has much
expertise w/ it. (It's sort of a black-box.)

I will be happy to provide any more information that I can.

Thanks in advance for any help...

MATT
