Hello,

I'm currently trying to set up RH 6.1 on a box here at work. The box is a
dual P2-400/128 with a ICP Vortex SCSI controller handling a IBM 9.1GB LZX
SCSI-III drive. The box is running on a Asus P2B-D motherboard.

The box started with just a 3.5" floppy drive, so I tried to get a FTP
install to work, but I would get the the part where it contacts the FTP
site, and downloads stage2.img, and it would just hang at a blue screen
that said "Welcome to RedHat Linux" at the top.

So I installed an IDE CD-ROM (teac) out of another system. I've tried all
4 combinations of settings (pri-master/slave, secondary-master/slave), and
it will not detect my CD-ROM. It's not being detected by the BIOS, so it's
obviously not being detected by the installer.

I'm setting this box up to run (shudder) Chilisoft hosting ASP pages under
Linux, so I can't run 6.2 due to the fact Chilisoft doesn't work on 6.2. I
might try earlier versions if I don't get this working soon.

SCSI is not my strongpoint, so if there are any things you think I might
be missing, please point them out!

Does anyone have suggestions? I'm quickly running out of things to try.

thanks,

/me
