There was a letter from, IIRC, Jeremy Allison and another SAMBA developer
over Microsoft publishing specifications to the extension to Kerberos.
Anyone could download the spec, however you had (in the normal convention of
a self-executing zip) click on a license saying that it is a trade secret
and you can't disclose it, etc. Well, someone had the bright idea of
copy-n-pasting the spec to Slashdot, ala DeCSS. Microsoft called them on it
and told them to remove the post, but also others that had instructions on
how to open it with WinZip, there by-passing the EULA.
There is currently a thread up about Slashdot's response. Very interesting.
As for the unavailability to connect, they have had some Distributed DoS
attacks. It was working at around 13:00 PDT today (5-18-00).

Subject: Slashdot?
Hey guys,
Yesterday I saw an article claiming that Microsoft was demanding that
Slashdot remove some posts regarding Microsoft's (typical) proprietary
extensions to the Kerberos protocol.
I haven't been able to get to /. for the last 24 hours.
Anyone else getting through? Did someone shut them down?
