DHCP lease is set to whatever it is set; there is no default as
such. Clients, by default, ask the server for renewal at 50%, 67%,.... of
the lease time. In your case it seems that lease is set to around 5 or 6
hours, so your machine tries to renew it after 2-3 hours.

I remember that when RedHat started shipping "pump", there was a lot of
"issues" with it. So much so that I had to ditch pump and hard code IP of
some of my machines. I have never looked at pump since. You may want to
get rid of pump and install dhcpcd (from contrib area).
