I am setting up a test lab to be able to test the ppp setup that we are
gong to be using to communicate to remote sites. I am behind a
panasonic phone system and have the two modems that are going to be
communicating on different extensions. I can dial out and get the other
to ring but the intercom call (dial ext number only) results in a dual
ring that the modem is interpreting as busy. Both of these modem behave
the same way. No big supriize since they are both US Robotics modems
but of different vintages. I do not even know what they are just that
they are US robotics at least 28.8s.

Is there anyway to tell the modem to wait a bit before giving up on the
busy? I would even be happy to be able to tell it don't worry about the
busy at this point.

Any help appreciated,

I skimmed the modem howto and could find no reference to this sort of
issue.

BTW a linksys combo card in my laptop has no problem dialing into the
remote computer via the intercom feature of the phone system.
