I just did the change over from 6.1 to 6.2 and is was not a present
experience. I bought the official Red Hat packages, 6.1 was the standard,
6.2 was the deluxe. I first chose the "upgrade" install, and when all was
said and done it loaded file servers I don't use and when you get to the end
of the scripting it showed the correct RedHat 6.2 version but the wrong
Kernel. After a couple hours of talking with RedHat, it was agreed that the
upgrade only did that, it upgraded the packages but not the Kernel. I ended
up going thru the "custom" install and reformated my partions. I like 6.2
better then 6.1, I also liked the GUI install, easier to understand then the
text mode. You have a lot of new packages to choose from, I recommend going
thru them and installing those packages. Word of caution, when I went to
the priority up2date it gave a list of kernels that I chose not to download
and install. Don't do it, I did and it was very unstable, actually acted
like a virus. I lost the ability to connect to the internet, lost my sound
card program, it showed several thing "failed" during the boot scripting.
I've reinstalled the software and installed only those packages I wanted
using the up2date program and am very happy with 6.2. I just need to learn
not to tamper with the machine once I get it set up.
