More. I found that, in addition to the lines added to conf.modules, I
needed to add the following to my /etc/rc.d/rc.local
insmod sg
insmod ide-scsi
insmod local
Then all was well.
All's left for me to do now is sort out a permissions problem when
mounting the drive, but that's for tomorrow.
