More. Per the X-CD-Roast 0.96ex README.ATAPI, I booted with a LILO command line of linux-up hdd=ide-scsi THEN (drum roll, please;), I executed insmod ide-scsi Ran cdrecord -scanbus...and the expected output emerged! Ran X-CD-Roast -nonroot option, it opened normally. (I'll configure it over the weekend). So, this strategy worked, with 2.2.14-5. As I understand it, this provides SCSI host adapter emulation for this IDE/ATAPI device. To note, this is on a P-III, coppermine machine, kernel configured and installed per the Red Hat6.2 zoot iso image, upgraded from 2.2.12, using default hardware detection options (burned on an "alien" system ;) Machine has two CDs, both IDE/ATAPI, on an Intel system board, assembled by Dell as a Precision A220 workstation. The idea for the lilo option came from the README.ATAPI The insmod was just a guess, after a couple of failures with only the boot line. There was no reference to do this in the X-CD-Roast Manual or in the cdrecord man pages. May I humbly suggest the inclusion of the module information for inclusion in the next release of the README.ATAPI? Cordially, John On 04/11/00, 10:32:36PM -0400, John P.
