Since I did not see a reply to your query, I thought I would offer a
miniscule bit of assistance. I was given a Proliant 800 server (guy
thought something was wrong with the machine, fan went out 2 weeks later,
no problems otherwise, warranty repair, good to go...sweet!) and, being
completely unfamiliar with Compaq and their lovely system configuration
partition, I needed tech support. Talked with a fellow named Richard
Black (super nice fellow) who led me to his page on Compaq servers and
Linux. There is lots of good info here, maybe some of it will be useful.
His e-mail address is also here, and I am sure he would not mind a couple
