Hang in there, linux doesn't hold your hand like some other operating
systems do, but the power it gives you is well worth it.
First of all did the redhat installation find the ethernet card on
install? What kind of card is it? Can you ping 127.0.0.1 from the
machine? can you ping the ethernet address you assigned the machine? What
kinds of tests are you running exactly and what results are they returning
exactly (ie telling us that you can't connect isn't very usefull, saying
that you tried to ping www.yahoo.com and got a request timed out response
is). Networking under linux can be tricky when starting out, especially
if you are used to a windows environment. Linux assumes you know what you
are doing, and I for one had no idea what I was doing when I set up my
first machine. Hang in there though, cause what you learn in the end is
well worth it.
