Mate, that sounds more like a downgrade, not an upgrade.
Your're working with something that wasn't designed with Linux in mind on
beta drivers to make something incompatible compatible? And you wonder why
it's dropping out?
If you have a choice, return the winmodem and get an external modem.
Otherwise I don't think anyone can help you.
