hi,

I had the same problem with xterm. Thru 'xwininfo -root' I found out
that the default for my display was 8 bits/pixel (check for Depth:
field). Using Xconfigurator, I changed it to 16 bits/pixel and
everything is workng fine. So I suggest increasing your bits/pixel.
