PMFBI, but I just had to comment.  Since comcast recently acquired my cable
company and, they tell me, will soon be offering cable modem service in my
area, I went to their web site and looked at their service agreement.  It
seems they do _not_ want you running any type of "server" on their plant, so
they have included restrictive clauses in the agreement.  Thus, they have a
gotcha whereby they could, at the very least, claim the "right" to
sniff/probe your port.  Whether or not the probe is otherwise legal or
defensible is wide-open to argument.

If I didn't want the high-speed service so desperately, I would be tempted
to wait for the telco to provide DSL.   ... then again, maybe better not
hold my breath! <g>
