youll need edit the file /etc/X11/gdm/gdm.conf and change the line
XDCMP=0 to XDMCP=1.  this will make it use the XDCMP broadcast.  then
you can edit the /etc/inittab and there should be a line that says
'default run level' or something like that.  change it to 5 or if it
already boots to the X login screen you are ok.  then reboot.  then
exceed should see it on the XDCMP broadcast.  at least my xwin32 does.
