Some additional mouse copy/paste tips:

Double clicking with the left button will select a "word", though what
actually gets selected is dependent on the xterm and how it is configured.
For example, on my default afterstep/xterm setup, double clicking on a
dotted quad out of an ip address selects that dotted quad, while in rxvt
the same action selects the entire ip address.

Triple clicking on a line selects an entire line, INCLUDING the newline
(ie, if you paste something to a command line, you won't get a chance to
edit the command as it will act as if you hit enter. This is actually a
good thing for those time when you cut and paste a series of commands).

For those with 3 button mice, the right button and be used to extend the
current selection. Again, exactly how this work depends on the xterm.

Once you have selected something, you CAN use the mouse up to a point.
I've noticed that doing anything in Netscape tends to clear the selection,
but most application will let you click away until you are ready to paste.

Note: Most of this applies to virtual consoles as well when running gpm.
Those with 3 button mice: gpm by default does not recognize the middle
button until you actually use it. This can be changed by adding a
parameter to the call to gpm in /etc/rc.d/init.d/gpm

All of this is based on a default setup of Redhat 6.0 w/ Afterstep, YMMV.
