Hello -
I've run into a strange problem with RH 6.1. I'd been successfully running
it for about a week, when at some point any upload I attempted would hang
almost immediately. I can connect to FTP servers, IRC servers, etc, send
commands/text, but any sort of large upload freezes after around ~20k sent.
After tweaking around a bit and finding no answers with my more
linux-knowledgable friends, I decided I'd just reinstall 6.1 and that'd
surely solve the problem. It didn't. I'm dual-booting with win95, everything
works fine in windows.
I've got a generic NE2000 compatible card which worked just fine with RH
5.1, 5.2 and until this problem began, 6.1. I'm hooked into a T1 network and
I use DHCP. I've attempted using TCPDump to try and figure out what's going
on, but I really don't know enough to interperet it's output as to possible
causes of the problem.
Anyway, I'm really stuck. I've read and read, but have to find anything that
gave me a clue. I had heard from someone else using connecting with PPP that
he had this problem and resolved it by lowering his MTU, but I don't think
that's what I'm running into (although I don't know how to change it to
check). I've asked around on a local Linux users group mailing list, no luck
there either.
If anyone has any ideas/suggestions, I'd really appreciate it as this list
is about my last hope of getting an answer. FYI, I'm pretty much a novice
and so if you could go into detail as to possible solutions it would be very
helpful.
Thanks,
Tom
