No problems running the thing once it's booted - support is already there
(modular) for the 3200. The problem is actually booting off the damn thing
in the first place. I suppose I could just leave the floppy disk in there
forever but I'm not convinced that that is the best 'long term strategic
solution'...
N.B. Can't find anything of use to Linuxers on the Compaq site - I'd
appreciate some pointers if anyone has any.

I believe that you need to download the kernel patch from
Compaq, and
re-compile support in for the Smart array controllers. I
haven't tried it
myself yet, but I remember reading about it.
Check out the compaq support forums there should be some
info there.
