OK -- sorry, this isn't really a Linux question, but I thought many other Linux users might be using the free myip.org dynamic DNS service to keep a rational constant host name when using cable-modem DHCP-assigned addresses. myip.org seemed to disappear yesterday causing all my mail that was addressed to [EMAIL PROTECTED] to give errors to the sender because the DNS couldn't resolve "hashbang.myip.org". "www.myip.org" doesn't respond and the nameservers ns1.myip.org and ns2.myip.org don't even look up EACH OTHER. dhs.org offers a similar free service, but it's only updated once per day at 6 AM pacific time whereas myip.org updates dynamically, so things work OK when MediaOne renumbers me and their DNS takes a long time to catch up with it. Freshmeat has had a couple handy updaters for myip. Anybody have a clue what happened to myip.org? Are they dead, moribund, or just temporarily offline? pete peterson GenRad, Inc. 7 Technology Park Drive Westford, MA 01886-0033 [EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED] +1-978-589-7478 (GenRad); +1-978-256-5829 (Home: Chelmsford, MA) +1-978-589-2088 (Closest FAX); +1-978-589-7007 (Main GenRad FAX) -- To unsubscribe: mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with "unsubscribe" as the Subject.
