I need to be able to set an arp entry for an entire subnet. However, it
appears that I can't do this due to the kernel version I'm using. Would
my simplest solution be to use the latest 2.0 kernel? Or, is there a
way around this annoying "feature"?

/sbin/arp -Ds 129.78.111.112 eth0 netmask 255.255.255.240 pub
SIOCSARP: Invalid argument

>From the man page for arp:

NOTE: As of kernel 2.2.0 it is no longer possible
to set an ARP entry for an entire subnet.

So, what are my options? Change my kernel?

ps. If anyone knows why you can no longer set arp entries for a subnet,
please let me know.

pps. Could replies be CC'ed to my e-mail address as well as the list,
please? I receive the digest but I really need to see any answers as
soon as possible.
