Be sure to reply to that address.
I bought Redhat 6.1 understanding that I would
get 90-days priority FTP service with their new
UP2DATE service. I was, though, under the
impression that at the end of 90 days, that
Redhat had a NON-PRIORITY FTP UP2DATE service.
Then I get this email from Redhat Support after a
couple of inquiries:
"Hello *****,
I apologize for not being totally clear on my
response. Let me see if I can get it right this
time. UP2DATE only works with priority ftp, and
will not work otherwise. There is no such thing
as non-priority ftp UP2DATE service. You can
still access ftp.redhat.com, but you will not
be able to use the UP2DATE application without
priortiy access. I hope this clears up any
confusion I caused. I'll keep this ticket open
for 2 weeks in case you have more questions on
this issue.
Cheers, Erica"
I am sure Redhat said that 6.1 would also allow
non-priority UP2DATE. Does anybody remember them
promising this or have any advertising literature
indicating this. It sounds like they are going
back on a promise made to allow non-priority
UP2DATE services. Although Erica's pretty
cheery, I'm not.
Thanks.
