I use amanda as well but man what a learning curve.  The RPMs are out
there but I did not know what user and directories they compiled into
the binary used.  Now that I have a better idea about how th thing works
I may try the binaries again.  RPM sure is nice.  I guess if I had the
time I could build my own rpm for it.  Oh well. So much to learn and so
little time.

I really do like amanda though.  It performs all the tape management and
tried to keep redundant copies of stuff and all I have to do is feed the
drive the tape it asks for.  Pretty good mailing list with some very
helpful folks.  Not as helpful as this list of course:)
