You want memtest86. it's up to version 2.1. It can be found on sunsite,
er ah I mean--oh darn I can't remember its new name, but the one there
was not the latest one last time I looked.

It's a standalone bootable floppy, and can be compiled on Linux, but
does not require Linux to run.
