$31 - OvisLink 8 Port Hub - 10Mbs - Retail
$110 - OvisLink 8 Port Hub - 10/100Mbs - Dual Speed - Retail
$329 - OvisLink 8 Port - 10/100Mbs - Switching Hub - Retail
$11 - OvisLink - 10Mbs - 32bit - PCI - Retail
$14 - OvisLink - 10/100Mbs - PCI - Retail
Here are the prices I pulled down from www.ebccomputers.com today.
Sounds like a decision needs to be made on just what you want to do. I
have used other products in the past but can say that ovislink pricing
and quality of their products is outstanding. For example, In my tests
I've found that they outperformed 3Com products at a much cheaper price.
If I was putting a home network together (which I am) I'd go with
something mid range or higher. Perhaps an 8 port dual speed hub with a
10/100 Mbs PCI NIC. My game plan is to purchase the 8 port Switching
Hub for $329 and several 10/100 Mbs cards. I plan on keeping this
network around for awhile :D
So basically it sounds like you need to sit down and decide how much you
can afford and how fast you need it to go.
This ovislink price sounds attractive, but you can do much better than
this for 100BaseT. More like $150 - $200 for linksys or netgear stuff.

Computers are actually powered by Chaos theory, not electricity... that
is just for the fan.
