Well, being a long time RH user  I would say go with RH.  I tried out Caldera
Lite many a year ago and didn't like it.  I used to use Slackware I like it for 
some stuff.  RedHat has simple way to connect to the net. Also  Gnome is
pretty well setup for you. I don't know about KDE, but what I hear it seems
pretty stable.

I don't know about Debian.
