The problem is not to do with ttyS0 or the modem. pppd is where it should
be and kmod is loading the ppp module (lsmod gives the answers it should).
I can only assume there is a problem with the kernel. I boot from loadlin
on a windooze partition. I copied a file across called vmlinuz-2.2.5 renamed
it zimage and it boots just dandy. I'm going to try a larger file called
vmlinux-2.2.5 and see if booting from that helps. If I boot from my old
kernel for suse which definitly has ppp compliled in I get a different
message trying to connect "cannot find /root/.ppprc" any ideas folks its
driving me up the wall.
