ack.  ok, i'll only post on this one more time, and i'll move on.
really.  i promise.  (later today, i'm actually going to test if i
can play dvds on my dell inspiron 7500. :-)

the above posting is *still* misleading.  decss is *NOT* giving people
the potential to do wrong with anything.  decss does not promote copying
dvds and, as i can see it, does not even *support* the copying of dvds.
(i could be wrong here -- if so, could someone correct me?)

decss is not a copier, it's a *player*.  as such, it *cannot* be misused
to break the law and copy dvds, even if someone wanted to do such a thing.
all it gives one is the ability to play their own, legally-owned dvds.
as far as i can tell, you can't break the law with decss, no matter how
hard you try.  anyone who discusses the ability to copy dvds with decss
is just plain wrong.  period.

now, if you want, we can move on and discuss why the DVD CCA is so upset
with decss, and that's because they want to control the market of
dvd *players*.  *now* we're talking sleazy. :-)
