I have a RedHat 6.1 server setup and running DNS. There are several aliases
to the machine so that I can run multiple web sites virtually using Apache.
I can't find anything wrong but people are occassionally getting DNS error
messages while surfing the virtually hosted sites.

It doesn't happen all the time, appears randomly, and seems to resolve
itself. I've had people test things when they run into the problem. Web
pages that they viewed only minutes before suddenly become unavailable.
They'll run a ping and a traceroute and receive messages saying "unknown
host" and "unable to resolve hostname". If they wait a few minutes, the
problem goes away and they are able to start accessing things again.

At first, I honestly thought the problem was something on their end. Now
I'm receiving this message from several people. I've also ran pings and
traceroutes to some of the people having the problem and I'm finding that
I'm only 10 hops away and have an average ping of 130 to some of these
people.

Any ideas on what's going on and how to solve it?

Thanks =)

-Ed
