That's not normal operation for a network interface card.  You have a
problem with the setup of the card, the cable, or the hub.

Try this and see if you get any lost packets:

ping -c 500 <your_ip_address>

This should ping your network interface 500 times.  You should see NO lost
packets.

Hi people..

Merry xmas to all..
I've got a question.. how do i prevent my eth0 from switching
off ever a few minutes? I connected it to a hub.. and after a few
mins i loose link light.. but the connection does not die.. then
when i start using the connection again it takes a few before it
responds.. and once it does i have link light again as well.
Any idea how i prevent this from happening on an idle connection
- i dont want to resort to a keep-alive-ping
