I changed my color depth to 32bit from 24bit.  This alone
"fixed" the problem.  This is an unfortunate requirement
and limitation for acrobat.  It SHOULD run regardless
of color depth.

Excuse me..... I run Redhat 6.0 and guess what, Acrobat 4.0
runs fine for me.....  ;-)  Keep on trying.....
