I am running a RH 6.1 system with all the 6.1 updates.
I recently installed Acrobat 4.0 acroread on my system,
and due to problems running it, have actually downloaded
it several times and tried reinstalling it repeatedly.

The problem is that it doesn't work. It will start up,
both on command and as a helper for Netscape but at that
point it refuses to open any pdf. Instead it gives an
error saying that a segmentation fault was caught and
I then have to close it down. If I start it up and
then try to open the accompanying help file that comes
with it, it will open up a totally botched up first page
of the pdf, with text overlapping to the point of
unreadability. As soon as I try to switch to another
page, it gives me an error message and then leaves me
with a blank white page to look at instead of ANY
image at all. I can open all the pdfs that it fails
to open with xpdf or kpdf so I know they are OK files...
besides, even the help pdf that comes with the app
wont properly open.

Has anyone else seen this? Is it an issue of library
incompatibilities (sensitive to glibc versions or
something?). It shouldn't be a lib problem since it
is a static binary...isn't it?

I am wondering if it is a problem on my system or
a problem with the app itself (requiring notification of
Adobe).
