Not sure if it will fit your bill but... At my little section
of my university the IT folks have shut down all email access
except for a web-based exchange page or the exchange service.
That is, they have shut off ALL access to POP3 and IMAP, leaving
only exchange as the email currency. It sucks but...I don't use
the web-based mail and I do not reboot to windoze to get my
email. I downloaded the linux client of CitrixICA. With it,
I connect to my university, run outlook and check my mail.
Basically, you run NT (or 95/97/98 etc) in a configurable
window. I run mine at 800x600, 256 colors (the max allowed).
It works great. I don't have to go to windoze (running RH 6.1),
I didn't have to buy any M$ software, didn't have to change
anything except install the free linux client software.
It is easy to setup too. I can't recall the web address but
if you do a search for CitrixICA, you should hit it.

Okay, here's what i'm trying to do. Read my email using linux. The
problem, my test machine has 5 removable hard drives. I switch between
operating systems because i need to test new software and the like
before we deploy it. I am using Microsoft Outlook 97 on the the 4
other
removables (NT server, NT workstation, 2000, 98). I have my pst file
(the one that holds all my email) on a NT server. All i need to do to
get my email is open outlook and I have it point to that file and it
gets all my old email. Piece of cake. I want to be able to read my
email while i'm using linux (so eventually, i'll never have a need to
switch operating systmes). I tried to get samba working, but since we
have an NT domain here, it's the biggest pain in the ass in the world.
I've tried everything but it refuses to accept the password when i
connect to any resource on any computer that's listed in the NT
domain.
So, for the life of me I can't figure out how to get samba to work so
I
can't use it and wine (which i can't get to run outlook either) to get
to my mail. The books are no very informative either ("You can also
configure samba to join a domain." end of chapter). VMware....I
installed it. Since you need to email to get your license key i need
to
download it using a microsoft product which royally fucks the file and
linux won't read it. So i type it in by hand. I put the file in
/root/.vmware/license. I can start vmware but when i hit power on
(after configuring a win98 virtual disk) it tells me my license file
is
corrupt or has extra lines. WELL IT DOESN'T!!! How the hell do they
expect me to buy their product if i'm a linux user (very used to FREE
things now) and i can't, for the life of me, get their evaluation copy
working!?!? I'm about to lose my mind! All i want is my email! Can
anyone please help me out? I really want to steer away from changing
my
linux pop server to an imap because of disk space constraints and the
fact that the other 67 users i have configured are not having problems
and will probably kill me if i mention changing their mail. Are there
any samba experts out there? VMware guru's who can give me a hand? TIA
