Hi all
I have been digging around for info on identd and pident, mainly was
looking for a mail list or for advanced experiences with the use and
implimentation of this protocol/daemon. I did find one list but it appears
the admin has not figured majordomo with postfix as yet (all mail fails
that is sent to majordomo) so.....
1. does anyone know of any other lists in existence covering identd
2. does anyone have experiences using some of the patched identd servers
3. does anyone have documentation that shows in detail how to control what
is returned when an identd request is answered
4. is there a real argument about keeping an ident server installed if you
dont have many users
My Objective
To use a safe daemon that will return void info like just "USER",
something that will drop connections that are not real ident requests
(timeout recommendation maybe), and something that may be limited in the
amount of requests it will recieve, though inetd should cover that.
Known
That there is a doc meant for pident that says you can return void info, &
the RH ver will work with a keyfile.
Any suggestions/experiences besides "man identd" will be welcomed !
