Gary, I've never tried to stop a tape process by doing a Crtl-C but it may not
be the best way to do it without seeing errors.  I would guess that you killed
the tar process but the tape drive may have been still reading and had a buffer
overflow???

The flashing amber and green lights (at the same time) indicate an unexceptable
number of tape read errors.  I believe the lights are a function of the tape
drive not the software.
