The gdm shipped with RH6.0 does not support XDMCP. You install a later
gdm/GNOME version or use a different login manager. Both xdm and kdm work
fine. 

I switched to kdm to avoid playing with GNOME upgrades. Just change the
prefdm link in /etc/X11 to point to kdm instead of gdm. The kdm config file
defaults to /usr/share/config/kdmrc.
