I trying to install quota's on some of the users of my network. I looked in
the HOTO area of redhat 6.1 which is what im working with. Although i did
see howto's on QUAKE ( a video game, for you non shoot um up people) i did
not see anything
refering to quota's. Can some kind soul point me in the right way of where i
can find some DOCS?

Im trying to acomplish SIMPLY this:

/home/jim has 10 megs of room to do what he wants with. Period.
/home/jeff has 100 megs, SAME.

Also, what file is it that i edit so that i can use something other than VI
for the editor in edquota <username>..
I dont know VI at all but i do know pico (putting on burn gear and armor,
hehe)...

I beleive i have quota's "turned on" as when i do a quota it gives me info.
Now i need to add info to it, and turn those on.

Thanks alot gang!

PS* I have heard bad things from COMDEX about the direction that RedHat is
taking. Advertising, money money money.
Although i do not know the directions of the company, i was VERY unimpressed
with tech help that came with the Deluxe package of 6.1.

I will give one example:
I called tech support, reporting i have 3 machines with 6.1 installed. ncftp
worked fine on 2, yet with one it hung for about 30 seconds of so, then
worked just fine. There answer was i have no idea, never heard of it. As i
informed them i thought it was a DNS issue, they said oww. Sorry cant help
ya. Going through other help venues, i found out infact that ncftp was
trying to do a reverse DNS on the IP i was giving it. I called back RedHat
support, told them the problem i was having. How to fix the probelm (in MY
case) and told them to close my ticket.

Am i asking too much? I personally believe i am not asking for too much. I
DO welcome any and all comments on this...

Jim.

let the flames begin, im sure...smile..
