It seems to default to the first of the series of resolutions.  For 
instance, mine runs like so:   "1024x768" "800x600" "640x480"...which 
brings us nicely to the next informative bit:

Wonderful!  I didn't know this, and it explains the series of 
resolutions.  Thanks so much for the tip, David!
