There are quite a few differences in those files but nothing I see that would affect 
linuxconf. The TERM variable is the same and the only real differences are some new 
variables and the shell being set differently. There is a new MC variable in rl3 but 
none in rl1. The shell is /bin/sh in rl1 but /bin/bash in rl2. The other difference is 
in the PS1 variable.

Could any of these effect linuxconf or my config utils?
