Edward,

I won't get into the specifics again - just posted a note about an hour
ago that explain them. You might reference it.

Point out a problem that some of us are running into: being thrown off Linux
lists because we have a dial-up account and are using our Linux boxes as our
MTA.

I want to make it absolutely clear that I'm THRILLED with Red Hat Linux.
I'm using Apollo, plan to upgrade to 7.0 when it comes out, bypassed Hedwig
because I'm new enough to Linux I wanted to get used to one distribution
before upgrading and having to learn a new one. Linux does what I want and
need in an op system. Red Hat and Linux are NOT the problem. The problem
is that some Linux lists and domains block dial-up Linux boxes that run
their own MTA.

I have a virtual domain and 4 cnames on my box. I don't have any trouble
sending out mail, and have about a half dozen other personal or business
email address I use, several which are unrelated to the domains on this box.
What I have trouble with is getting the mail to land where it's supposed to
go (sounds like I'm talking in circles). As my configuration is set up, I can
send out mail, no trouble; my ISP has no problems with how I'm set up. Most
recipient MTA's have no trouble. The only ones I'm having problems with are
those using a spam filter from the service http://mail-abuse.org/dul. This
blocks email coming from Linux boxes using their home PC as the MTA from a
dial up account. If I had DSL or a dedicated line I could run this exact
configuration with no questions asked. I'm having problems only because I'm
a dial_up box that runs my own MTA, bypassing my ISP.

I see nothing constructive in purchasing an additional subdomain when I
already own 5 domains and 5 subdomains. Adding one more isn't going to fix
the problem.

Thanks for the suggestion anyway!!!

Glen
