I haven't tried what you are looking for, but I'll throw out the things
that I usually use for this kind of thing.
ApplixWare is similar to StarOffice, but has an open source extension
language. If you can't do it directly through the GUI (you probably
can), then you can most likely do it using an extension. You can find
ApplixWare at Linux Central, direct from linux.applixware.com, or from a
large computer store that has Linux stuff (Fry's).
XFig is a simple, open source drawing tool. Nothing too fancy, but it
sounds like you don't really need anything fancy.
