OK, so I "read the source Luke" :-) 

        Looks to me like if I create a file called /fsckoptions and put a -p in
        it then the system startup scripts will automaticly check the
        filesystesms.

        However, having said that. i power cycled a RedHat 6.0 machine  I have
        at work this morning, and it ran fsck automatilcy _withou_ stoping for
        manual interventin, and it does not have this file.

        Now I'm puzzled. Any clues?
