not if you have physical access to the machine. Given a linux system, and
the appropriate boot disks, I can get in in the time it takes to reboot it
twice, plus about two minutes. <insert discussion about the most
effiecient way of doing this here...one person gets one reboot, plus a
minute plus time to bring it to normal run level> :)
And it's not always malice that keeps root passwords secret -- lack of
planning can do it too. (As my boss's boss occasionally says, if you get
hit by a mack truck on your way home tonight, I don't want to be clueless
on this..it goes for root passwords, too)
