Two possibilities (I used both, in succession):
1. rmmod lp before trying to insmod ppa (I included the rmmod as the
first line in the script that mounted ZIP drive).
2. Buy a parallel port card (something about $20 IIRC) and hook the
printer and the ZIP separately. The end of all conflicts.
A related question: Are Epson clones of ZIP drives known to (not) have
the "click of death" problem?
