I have the same problem. Stock gcc but with a recompiled 2.0.33 kernel.
I have both parallel port and printer as modules (ppa.o, lp.o). ppa.o
fails
to load with the Device or Resource Busy message. lp.o loads properly.
Computer: Dell WS 400 PII 300 (1 CPU), 2940 UW Scsi,
SW: RH 5.0 linux with most updates applied and little else loaded
