Below is the layout of a straight cable. Be aware that 1,2 and 3,6 each belong to
a twisted pair!!! (MAINTAIN THE TWISTING AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE WHILE MAKING THE CABLE!!!)
HUB Workstation
======================================
RX+ 1 ------- 1 RX+
RX- 2 ------- 2 RX-
TX+ 3 ------- 3 TX+
TX- 6 ------- 6 TX-
CROSS-OVER CABLE:
You can connect two end-stations (or two hubs) together using a cross-over cable.
You should then connect the cable pairs 1,2 to 3,6 and 3,6 to 1,2.
PDS Colouring Scheme:
RJ45
Pin ColorCode
===========================
1 White/Orange
2 Orange/White
3 White/Green
4 Blue/White
5 White/Blue
6 Green/White
7 White/Brown
8 Brown/White
The twisted pairs are obviously the Color/White <-> White/Color pairs!
TO TEST IF THIS CABLE WORKS, USE IT TO CONNECT A WORKSTATION AND
A SERVER TOGETHER AND SEE IF YOU CAN GET ANY COMMUNICATION
BETWEEN BOTH OF THEM!
