I don't think you want to upgrade your entire libc, since it could goof up
a few other things.  The way you do it is to just get put the shared
object files libc.so.x.x.x and libm.so.x.x., with symbolic links, in the
StarOffice lib directory, then use a (provided) script to point to that
directory when Star Office runs.  There are Web pages around describing
this process, and hopefully it works with Red Hat 4.0.  Check out Ray

versions of Red Hat.
