The RPM for apache is httpd. I believe the stock install from redhat 9 is httpd-2.0.40-21*rpm In console, do $> rpm -q httpd which means you query which rpm version is installed for httpd. > 2) if I don't know what rpm > upgrade does, if it'll remove the older version of apache and take care of > everything else. Yes, if you do RPM upgrade from Redhat, it will take care of removing older version and "everything else". Just sign up with Redhat network (RHN) as do your upgrade with up2date. > > PLEEEEEASE upgrade the box will all the errata. > > I'm trying to, first I have to gain some confidence with my spanking new > operating system, hopefully with a little help from more knowledgeable > people such as yourself. up2date is very easy to use. If you run in X windows environment (eg KDE, Gnome, to name the 'bloated' few :) ), you even have a nice GUI interface. Even if you don't know much, it *will* take care of applying errata and security updates for you. So please do that first. Reuben D. Budiardja -- Reuben D.
