Thanks Bret USR still makes the Pro modem in PCI for $80 and it listed Linux compatibility. 3com doesn't list anything on their site but I think that is because they choose to go thru USR

I have never had an issue with a non winmodem pci card. If you are using the fax side for say, hylafax then you might hit an issue or two and asking on the hylafax list (after reading the faq) is a good place for modem info since they have to interact more closely with other fax devices and talking to all the functions of the modem is very important.
